Humble beginnings
In 2007, we had started offering friends and family a weekly meditation night in the living room of our small apartment. What started as a small handful of people grew to 15-20 people, and we knew we needed to expand. A few years of teaching at Unity Minneapolis made it possible for us to grow into our first center called PranaPath in 2011.
In 2014, we (Jason and Samantha) moved to China to allow me to pursue my PhD in Chinese Medicine. This allowed us to teach Pranic Healing in the research department in the Tianjin TCM Hospital, and help bring Pranic Healing to Mongolia for the first time. In our absence, Jeannine O'Hora took over the center and continued to host meditation nights, study groups, and healing courses.
By 2017, it was time for another expansion. PranaPath was closed, and the search for a new space unfolded.
Being in China changed our views on wellness and healthcare, to say the least. People in China would come for acupuncture up to 5 days per week, and have their herbal prescriptions filled weekly, and most importantly it was affordable to all. Holistic medicine is largely a lifestyle, and acupuncture is the medicine of the people. In the United States, most people cannot afford acupuncture more than once per week, or twice in a month. We knew this needed to change.
Our clinic is set up similar to the clinics in China, semi-private rooms that allow for a higher number of people to be treated per hour, which drives the cost of the treatment down substantially. In this way, people who need treatment can afford it regularly, which is where the power of holistic medicine really shines- with consistent lifestyle changes.
The heart of Atma Wellness is based in the teachings of Pranic Healing, where compassion is viewed as the highest virtue of all. No one should be turned away because of their inability to afford healthcare, which is why we work with everyone in the community to meet them where they are at.
If you walk into our center full of stress, pain, sleep deprivation- you name it, you have a strong chance of walking out decompressed, pain free, and rejuvenated. Between acupuncture and Chinese medicine, yoga, meditation, mindful art classes... we've got you covered.
Welcome to your new home away from home.
